it's all about the man next to you...

after watching black hawk down the second time since 2002, i could appreciate the story and actions better... it's another sad event in US's history of miscalculated involvement in world events... there are some interesting scenes and quote to take note of... (p.s quotes are not 100% accurate...)

the rebel with the pilot captive...

"you think just by capturing our leader, we will put our guns down? no... we will continue fighting... there is no peace if there's no victory..."

"you think we will just embrace the american democracy?"

josh hartnett...

"someone asked me why i joined this war... why fight someone else's war? you think your heros? i repied 'it's not about being heros but it just somehow turns out that way...' "

courage was displayed through scenes like the loading of m203 in 5 secs while the rebels were loading their gpmg... strength was displayed when the rescue team fought the rebels till the last round... hope was displayed at the death bed of the guy whose pelvis was punctured with a 7.62mm round when he wanted his parents to be proud of his courage and strength... love was displayed when the pilot was beaten up and all he fought for was the picture of his wife and his son...

somehow after being in the army, the realism of ops is really fearful, esp the first engagement... i hope i won't ever be engaged... the question at the end of the day will still be "what are we fighting for?"

"it's all about the man next to you..."
