the athletes genes...

just read an article today... aaron huang may be making a come back soon... he broke the national long jump record unofficially last dec in aust with a jump of 7.36m, futhering the old one by 2cm... he was previously a sprinter who held the a div 100m rec for a year or two before seng song broke it... it was quite a tremendous change for him to jumps... but i guess it's quite easy for sprinters to convert to jumpers if they have the speed... but i feel that aaron is capable of jumping much further with a 100m timing of 10.84s... well, maybe shyam should consider long jump too... well, seems that singapore's athletics scene is slowly picking up... i should set my targets too, practical ones though... 7 is quite practical if i have the time and will to train, but given that i'm still stuck with work now and studies next year and the lack of ppl to train and achieve for, it may be a prob though... height isn't a prob at all i guess... c kunalan is only 1.68m and aaron is only 1.70m... if they can do it, it really proves that height isn't really the greatest limiting factor... rather it's the individual talent and attitude especially...

hmm, i realised that my cousin and i share similarities when i was young... he's only p1 but he likes to run and jump alot, and i really mean alot alot alot... it's an indication of his potential... maybe it's time to add another jumper or sprinter into my family, then we'll have a family of athletes... my dad, wei zhen, me are sprinter, mid d, jumper respectively... theody, kenneth are tt paddlers, while benedict is a swimmer... sigh, but i guess it's hard for us to make to the national level... it's quite impossible for theody to be part of the nat team, cuz of the strong monopoly of jiawei, peifen and the rest... well, i hope this athletic genes can carry on to the next generation and hopefully they will be even better than us...
